Kewanee FIrst UMC's Response to COVID-19

Here at Kewanee First, we are actively monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic Situation. Click the image to the right to view Pastor Kevin's statement from Saturday, March 14th.

As always, the health and safety of our members is our primary concern. If you would prefer to stay home, you can join us on local television (Comcast Channel 13), through our YouTube Channel, or via Facebook Live!

Here's what's happening @kfumc... and some things to do at your house...

From Pastor Kevin:

A couple (or a bunch) of Announcements:

1.     Worship is still closed to the public.

2.    We have people that will come in and worship BUT only so we can produce the worship service at 9:00 a.m. for Comcast/Xfinity channel 13 which is also recorded and then downloaded to our YouTube channel @KewaneeUMC.  We will once again go live on Facebook via Facebook Live.   It will be real time and can be viewed there later too.  The Governors Task force and the Bishop have given those that produce worship for broadcast an exemption so we can broadcast worship.  We must have 10 or less involved AND we observe the 6’ social distance rule.

3.    If you want to be part of one of those 10 person teams, let me know on Monday.   Monday is when I put the bulletin together.

4.    It is my understanding the first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Henry County.   Please be safe and be careful and observe good social distancing.  Maybe you aren’t concerned about it, but what about a senior citizen that you could infect?   Are you really willing to gamble with their life?

5.    If you would like to be involved in a Phone Tree Ministry call the office at 309-853-4497 or me at 309-525-3863 and let  us know.   I will get you (via e mail) the needed materials and line out the project on Monday or Tuesday.   Make sure I have your preferred e-mail address…

6.    Make sure and check out our church Facebook page (@KewaneeUnitedMethodistChurch) & our church website at   Next week we will begin some daily activities:

a.    Monday – Prayer requests and prayers… JOKE posting day (we are a church, only jokes you would share with Jesus, please.)   & a daily crossword puzzle.

d.    Thursday – Prayer requests and prayers… Share items that you are doing to keep from being bored… & a daily crossword puzzle.

e.    Friday - Prayer requests and prayers…  Post a tasteful pic from your past… & a daily crossword puzzle.

f.      Saturday - Prayer requests and prayers…   Scavenger hunt: people will have to post pics on the site to accomplish the hunt… no google searched pics (they must come from within your home -no cheating using your computer, I pad or phone to source pics) everyone posting together to accomplish the hunt… & a daily crossword puzzle.

g.     SUNDAY- Prayer requests and prayers… POST your favorite scripture and tell us why it’s your favorite.   & a daily crossword puzzle.

7.     Here’s what (See below) we will begin doing for those that are not (probably) plugged into the internet.   A weekly publication (see attached) and delivered via usps.   First edition went out today.

8.    Lastly, be SAFE & know that

            God LOVES  YOU!!!

Call if I can be of service...

Welcome to Kewanee First United Methodist Church

You are invited to connect with myself (Pastor Kevin Drane) and my wife, Marlene, as we begin our ministry at Kewanee First United Methodist Church. We are excited to be a part of the Kewanee community and look forward to connecting with all our fellow “Kewanee-ans”. As I consider the opportunities that Kewanee First allows its members, as well as its guests, connecting is the first thought that comes to my mind.

At KFUMC you have an opportunity to CONNECT with our Triune God, CONNECT with one another and CONNECT with the Kewanee community. Our worship is devoted to Connecting with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Come and hear your new pastor and meet his wife… we would love to connect with you!

At KFUMC you will have an opportunity to GROW in your relationship with God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit, GROW in your relationship with other worshippers at First UMC and Grow in your love for the community we know as Kewanee. At KFUMC we have the opportunity to GROW in our knowledge of God but also to GROW experientially in Christ. To learn about God (head knowledge) is important but to be in relationship with Jesus and in touch with the Holy Spirit is crucial. Come GROW with us as Christian disciples.

Lastly, at KFUMC we have an opportunity to SERVE together. We will strive to SERVE God, SERVE our community and actually, in our own small way, SERVE the world through our efforts here in Kewanee, Illinois. What a privilege it will be for us to SERVE here at KFUMC. We sincerely hope you will join us in Serving God, the Kewanee community and the world.

Come and see! Worship with us. Worship is for everyone who longs for God – believers as well as those who are seeking… seeking a new paradigm, seeking a peace that surpasses all understanding and seeking true and lasting relationships. Worship is about honoring, praising and glorifying our Lord and Savior. It is a time when we gather together to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit, and express our joy, our awe, and our heart-felt gratitude. God, the originator of generosity, will bless the investment of your time at Saturday or Sunday worship. Our Almighty God heals us physically, emotionally and spiritually. God pours his grace upon us. God’s grace is sufficient for you…

Bring your Offering to the Storehouse (Malachi 3:8-12)

8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse – your whole nation – because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” Says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord.

We believe that financial giving is a way God has called us to worship Him. Some churches tend to be shy in asking for donations to keep ministry going. We believe in absolute transparency with our finances, understanding that people in the past tend to second guess where their money goes when they give it to a church. We believe that having you see our spending will encourage you to give more, and make more of an impact in this community, and the world, for Jesus Christ.
